For mountaineers who are in good shape and have already made first experiences in steep ice climbing we offer the Wildspitze north face as a route to the summit.

We take the Gletscherexpress underground for conquering the first 1,000m of altitude gain up to an altitude of 2,840m. From there we continue by foot across a pathless terrain of moraines, to the Mittelberg glacier and to the Mittelbergjoch (3,166m). At the col of Mittelbergjoch we already see the white snow pyramide of the northern summit with its north face.

First we descent 90 vertical metres to the Taschach glacier. We rope up and go in southern direction. We ascend the first 500 vertical metres until we reach the bottom of the north face. Then we start to climb the north face as a rope team. The face has a steepness of about 50-60°. We follow the face straight to the northern summit of the Wildspitze. Then we traverse to the southern summit with the beautiful summit cross.

Descent via the normal route or the north west ridge to the Glacier Express.
