The wild and pure Geigenkamm mountain range is a perfect destination for mountaineers who look for quite tours far away from all the hustle and bustle. The highlight is the long traverse of the Mainzer Höhenweg high mountain trail.
We use the cosy Rüsselsheimer hut and the Braunschweiger hut as our basecamps.

Day 1: Ascent
Independent ascent to the Rüsselsheimer hut. Meeting at night at the hut.
Day 2
Hohe Geige 3,395m, highest summit of the Geigenkamm ridge, easy boulder climbing at the western ridge; descent along the regular route to the Rüsselsheimer Hütte. Overnight stay at the hut.
Day 3
Mainz high-altitude trail, crossing of the Geigenkamm ridge across several summits; highest peak: Wassertalkogel with Rheinlandpfalz bivouac at 3,252m; descent to the Braunschweiger Hütte. Overnight stay at the hut.
Day 4: Descent
Independent descent to the valley
FITNESS: fitness for 8-10 h and up to 1000 m vertical metres up and down every day
TECHNIQUE: climbing in grade UIAA II, no fear of heights
